Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Medium: Review and Swatches

I’ve been a long time fan of Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, and the brand just came out with new shades to the now cult-classic Pillow Talk line.

I’ve done a couple reviews of Charlotte Tilbury lipstick formulas here and here, so I’ll mainly be updating with swatches.

The shade extension to the Pillow Talk line includes deeper shades of the original lipstick and blush. The Pillow Talk Medium is in the matte revolution formula ($34) and Pillow Talk Intense is in the K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula. There is also a Pillow Talk Intense Cheek to Cheek Blush ($40) and Pillow Talk Medium Lip Cheat Lip Liner ($22).

The new shades are long overdue in my opinion, since the original Pillow Talk shade was really only a nude for light-medium skin tones. It was really a nude on me, so I’m glad to see new shades that will work for anyone with a deeper skin tone. I swatched all the new products in store, and I loved the Pillow Talk Medium shade the best, plus I like the Matte Revolution formula slightly better than the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. formula.

The Pillow Talk Medium lipstick is a warm berry pink that almost leans terracotta for me. It comes in the Matte Revolution formula, which has a smooth matte finish with a slightly powdery feel. I find that these last a good 3-4 hours on me, and that’s even with drinking water constantly.

Here is a swatch of the shade:

I also compared it to other Charlotte Tilbury shades:

CT Very Victoria, Pillow Talk Lip Cheat, Pillow Talk lipstick, Pillow Talk Medium, Rose Kiss, Glowing Jen, Bond Girl

CT Very Victoria, Pillow Talk Lip Cheat, Pillow Talk lipstick, Pillow Talk Medium, Rose Kiss, Glowing Jen, Bond Girl

As you can see, this shade fits in perfectly with Charlotte Tilbury’s other lipsticks. There are similar shades in the collection, and Rose Kiss is most similar to Pillow Talk Medium, but they are still different enough for me to justify owning both. As with all of Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, this is another hit from the line that I can’t get enough of.

If you’ve tried this new shade, let me know what you think! I know not everyone is a fan of Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, so I’d love to know your experience with the lipsticks.

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. I agree that this release was long overdue, Charlotte still insists that the original Pillow Talk is a “universally flattering” shade on everyone and hypes that color up so much when really its just a generic pinkish nude that’s gonna wash out anyone who’s darker than a beige shade lol. Most of her sets/bundles include either the pillow talk lip liner or lipstick along with it and it annoys me. No hate though, I still love her products but it’s just something I’ve noticed!

    1. Sorry for the late reply, Essie! I have the same critique of the brand. Besides the Airbrush Flawless Foundation, all the color products in her line are meant for people with light-medium (and maybe tan) complexions. It’s an unfortunate dynamic, and I know several people have asked the brand to be more inclusive without much positive response. It’s made me think about my support for the brand going forward. Thanks for raising the issue!
