EMPTIES: February 2019

It seems like January lasted approximately 4 months and February lasted 4 minutes. Somehow we’ve made it through the month and a whole new round of empty products that I’m more than happy to clear out from my collection!

I thought that there would be more full size and makeup products, since I made it through two months without buying anything (except I did receive PR gifts), but I didn’t finish THAT much. I did make significant progress on a lot of items so I’m sure those will be coming up soon.

For this months empty products, we have a lot of mini skincare and makeup that I was trying out:

Andalou Naturals Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk – I got this cleanser in one of those Whole Foods beauty bags, and honestly didn’t love it. It was a milky cleanser that was extremely gentle, but too gentle for me. It didn’t really lather up for me at all, and I didn’t feel like it did any deep cleansing. I basically only used this in the morning.
Would not repurchase.

DCL Hylaronic Serum – This came in a GWP from Cult Beauty awhile back, and it was fine, but it didn’t really excite me. I think it works just fine as an extra hydrating serum, but my skin doesn’t really need it, so it really was just an extra step.
Would not repurchase.

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel – I absolutely LOVE these pads! I don’t use them very consistently because they’re pretty pricey, so I save them for when I feel like my skin needs an extra boost. I use them at night, and the next morning, my skin is SO soft and looks so glowy. I already have another mini pack that I’m using.
Already repurchased.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads – I do like these pads for gentle exfoliation, but they are just a little too gentle for me. To be honest, I just forgot to use these on a regular basis. If you have sensitive skin, or are new to AHA products, I’d recommend them, but the effects are subtle for me.
Might repurchase.

Luzern Laboratories Serum Absolut Au Vin – This was an AHA serum that was given to me by a friend for whom it didn’t work for. I used up probably 98% of this before it expired and went bad. It’s was a pretty good serum, and I did notice subtle effects, but it wasn’t life changing. I like my Sunday Riley Good Genes better.
Would not repurchase.

Tarte Deep Dive Cleansing Gel – I like getting little samples of these because I think it actually does a pretty good job of taking off my makeup and rinsing off cleanly, but it’s no match for my favorite DHC cleansing oil. I wouldn’t repurchase a full size, but I enjoy the samples.
Would not repurchase full size.

Tony Moly Aloe Daily Sheet Masks – I bought 2 packs of these masks as part of a panic purchase when I over-exfoliated my skin, even though I’ve mentioned on here before that I don’t love using sheet masks. I liked these because each pack has 10 masks, so they have a tad less waste than regular sheet masks. However, the masks themselves didn’t fit my face very well. They were actually a little too small for my face and didn’t fit my features too well. They are actually a very nice basic mask to help soothe my skin when it’s feeling a little dry and irritated, but don’t expect any long-term effects from using these.
Might repurchase.

Tony Moly Pore Care I’m Charcoal Mask Sheet – I don’t think this does a lot in terms of deep cleaning or clearing pores. I think the effects of this are similar to all other sheet masks in that they offer some extra hydration. It was just an okay mask for me, and I would probably just stick with their other hydrating sheet masks.
Wouldn’t repurchase.

Anastasia Beverley Hills Clear Brow Gel – I used to never see a need for brow gel, so this is actually the first brow gel I’ve ever used. After a few weeks of using it in conjunction with a brow powder, I noticed that my brows definitely stayed in place a little bit better. I have another sample of this that I will enjoy, but after that, I’d like to save a step and just get a tinted brow gel.
Might repurchase.

Clinique High Impact Mascara – I have used so many tubes of this over the years since this is the mascara included in every Clinique gift with purchase. I think this is actually a pretty decent mascara, although it gives more of a natural look. I like that it doesn’t clump that easily even after multiple layers. I’ve never actually bought a full size of this mascara, but I do enjoy using the samples when I get them.
Would not repurchase, but will keep using samples.

MAC Fix+ Prep and Prime Spray – I used to never see the point of this spray, but over the past couple years, I’ve really loved keeping the little bottles at my office where both the heater and the AC can make my skin feel dehydrated. I also keep one at my vanity to dampen my foundation brush, eyeshadow brushes, and make my skin look less powdery. It’s definitely not a must have item, but I do think that it works for different things.
Already repurchased.

MAC lipstick in Marquise’d – This lipstick is really old, and it’s a leftover from the days when I LOVED nude lipsticks (mid-2000s, anyone?) I have a few nude lipsticks from that time that are pretty well used, but I am now trying to make my way through them and finish them. I used to love this shade, but the slight shimmer emphasized my dry lips, so I only wore them with a more pigmented lip gloss on top.
Would not repurchase.

MAC lipglass in Viva Glam Cyndi – oh my gosh, does anyone remember the insane hype over the Cyndi Lauper products? I still have my lipstick that I will probably never actually finish because it’s just the perfect red that I haven’t been able to dupe. But this lipglass – while it’s basically the same shade as the lipstick – just doesn’t sit on my lips as well. I used to love MAC lipglasses, but I really have just moved on to better formulas that I prefer. I’m not too sad about using this up, but I will hold on to the lipstick till I die.
Would not repurchase.

Clairol Hair Food Moisture Shampoo – I got this shampoo to review from Influenster about a year ago, and it’s taken me until now to finish it! I only wash my hair 3-4x a week and since I have such short hair, I don’t use a lot of product. This shampoo was pretty ordinary, in my opinion. It cleaned fine and it wasn’t too drying, but if I  had a times when I needed to wash my hair 2 days in a row for some reason, I did feel like my scalp was a little dry, making it feel itchy. I wonder if this was due to the sulfates, since I made the transition to sulfate-free shampoos for a few years now. Either way, I’ll be going back to my sulfate-free shampoos.
Would not repurchase.

Frank Body Coffee Scrub – I know a lot of people love these, but I just didn’t really love them. I love the scent (but I also love coffee), but the scrub itself was not anything life changing. Yes, my skin felt softer after wards, but I don’t think it was any more effective than other body scrubs. The one thing that I really didn’t like was that it left my bathtub a mess! It doesn’t rinse off very well, so I could see little granules for days after. Sorry, but I’m not a fan of this one.
Would not repurchase.

Jason Dry Spray Deodorant – This is a fantastic spray deodorant that is also aluminum free. This is one of the only “natural” deodorants that I feel like keeps me dry even in the dead of summer. I used this to keep me dry during my workouts and it definitely holds up. This container also lasts forever. I think I had this bottle for more than 6 months, and I used it pretty intensely for the whole summer. I actually have quite a few deodorants in my collection right now, but I will definitely repurchase this once the weather warms up again.
Would repurchase.

L’occitane Almond Milk Concentrate Lotion – This lotion felt really nice going on the skin, and it feels very silky. I think this would be a really good moisturizer during the warmer months for me, but it doesn’t have quite the moisture level I need for the winter. It’s not drying, per se, but at the end of the day, I could still see some dry flakes on my skin. For most people, it’s probably fine, but for my super dry skin, I need something heavier.
Might repurchase in the winter.

Seche Vite Top Coat – Do I even need to say anything more about this? It’s my favorite top coat, and I always have a backup.
Already repurchased.

Oof, I guess that’s still a pretty good amount of stuff, huh? What did you use up this month? Did you see anything from here that you’ve tried?

As always, thanks for reading.
