Quite a few bronzers have launched this year and after using the Tom Ford Terra Bronzer practically nonstop for a couple years, I figured it was time for to branch out and try some of the new formulas. I actually did a bronzer round up of my most used bronzers, but it is a few years old now and most of the products on that list are discontinued. It’s definitely time to refresh the bronzers I’m using and these are all in my recent rotation of products.

I’ve been trying out a lot of LH Cosmetics products lately, and their new Infinity bronzer ($34) is one of their best products. It’s a very soft and silky formula that has a satin finish with a slight radiance to it, thought it isn’t a shimmery bronzer. The satin finish makes the powder look remarkably natural with my skin. The soft texture also makes it very easy to work with and build up from a sheer wash to more intense look. There are 4 shades, and I wear the shade Beyond, which is a golden medium shade. They are also available on Beauty Bay.
Sigma Beauty Matte Bronzer

Sigma Beauty is generally a brand that I’ve overlooked, which is a shame because they make some excellent products. I recently tried their Matte Bronzer ($35), and it’s great for a more sculpted and defined look. It comes in 4 shades that are generally neutral toned which is great if you find that a lot of bronzers pull orange on you. Medium is my best shade, and it’s cool enough to use a contour-bronzer combo. This is definitely a matte finish with a stiffer, but still blendable, texture so I would use a brush that’s more fluffy vs one that’s very dense with this formula.
I also have a code with Sigma Beauty to get you 10% off with the code BEAUTYUNHYPED

Surratt makes the most beautiful fine and silky powder formulas, and their new Artistique bronzer ($68) is no exception. Surratt’s powders start off sheer but can be easily built up – yet no matter how much they’re built up they always look incredibly natural on the skin. There are 2 shades: Soleil Doux is a midtone neutral bronze, and Soloil Clair is a warm toned bronze. I wish there were at least 2 more shades in the range as the two existing shades would be too light for anyone with a deeper skintone. However, if you are fair to medium these bronzers are a great option to try. I also have a 15% off code with Surratt if you use code STEPH15.
I did an a sponsored reel with the brand featuring the bronzers too:

Jones Road Beauty recently came out with liquid Gel Bronzers ($34), and they are my favorite liquid bronzer product to date. They have a gel consistency and can be applied lightly for a very subtle look, or built up for a more sunkissed look. What makes these stand out from other liquid bronzers I’ve tried is that they apply evenly while building up color and actually last on my skin. I’ve tried so many liquid bronzers that blend away to nothing or go patchy on the second layer, and this doesn’t do any of that. I apply it with the Everything Brush from the brand, which does a great job of blending the product.

I also love the tones of the shades, though I also wish there were a few more shades in this line. I have shade Light, which is a neutral midtone golden tan, and Medium, which is a warmer bronze. I find Light a little too light for me now that I have a tan, but Medium is a shade that only works when I have a tan. I use Medium when I want a more intense sunkissed look and Light when I want a more subtle glow, but I usually end up mixing the two shades. I think the range could benefit from an in-between shade, as well as another shade between Medium and Deep. However, formula wise, these are a total hit for me.
Here is the bronzer applied here:
Jones Road Beauty The Bronzer Dusty Rose
For a more traditional powder bronzer, Jones Road Beauty’s powder bronzer ($35) is also lovely. There are 7 shades, but the shade I have is the most unique. It’s the Dusty Rose shade, which is a cool rosy beige. It sounds like it shouldn’t be a bronzer at all, but the rosy tones of this give a really naturally sunkissed look, but in a subtly flushed way. The effect is much more natural than you’d expect, and it really mimics a sunkissed glow at the end of a day when your cheeks are just a little sunburned. It has a matte finish and is extremely blendable, though it is on the powdery side so I would definitely use a more fluffy brush with these. I demoed how natural these look in this reel:
Jane Iredale PureBronze Matte Powder Bronzer and Shimmer Bronzer

Jane Iredale is another brand that makes some lovely products, though they aren’t sold at many retailers. Their PureBronze Matte Powder Bronzer($44) is a matte bronzer with a red-toned finish, so this one is really great for a deep suntanned look. I have the shade Medium, and the only other shade is Deep, so I think those with fairer skintones may have trouble with this one. This bronzer also has a stiffer texture, but once it’s on the skin it blends beautifully. The matte bronzer is available at Nordstrom and the case is sold separately for $20, so this is definitely on the higher end, but I think the quality is there.
The Shimmer Bronzer ($48) is a really beautiful illuminating bronzer that has a blush/bronze blonzer effect, depending on the shade you get. I have the shade Rose Dawn, which has strips of pink, and the effect is a pinky rose glow, which is absolutely beautiful on the skin, but there is also a peachy, copper, and more illuminating bronze shade. They’re shimmery with a fine pearl so they leave a nice glow, but aren’t super shimmery or metallic. The effect is really ethereal, which I hope you can see in this reel:

As I noted in each description, the formula can determine the brush that I use with the product, but I have a few favorite brushes I like to use with bronzer:
- Real Techniques Blush Brush is an all time favorite, and it’s only $10. It’s big enough to apply products on large areas of my cheeks. It’s fluffy and diffuses product well, but the bristles are stiff enough to pick up denser powders without picking up too much product.
- Chikuhodo GSN-4 is significantly more expensive at $66, but cannot be beat for a more precise bronzer application that still diffuses product out effortlessly. It’s extremely soft but the natural hair bristles also make it suitable for picking up denser products so I find this brush to be very versatile.
- Sonia G. Hinoki Set is a set of 2 brushes, and the dense brush is perfect for applying bronzer, especially those with softer textures. It is a flatter brush instead of a round brush, and this makes it great for a softer and more natural application, though it’s also easy to build up product with this brush. It’s not as dense as the Chikuodo brush, so I love to apply softer products like the Surratt bronzer with this.
For cream and liquid bronzers, I usually reach for one of these 2 brushes:
- Merit Complexion Brush – this brush is just fantastic for all liquid and cream products. It blends product quickly and effortlessly. It’s slightly tapered so I can really get it into the hollows of my cheekbones and then blend upward onto my cheeks.
- Jones Road Beauty Everything Brush – I use this mainly with the Jones Road Beauty Gel Bronzer, but it also works well for other cream products. This is an extremely dense brush so it’s definitely best for liquid or cream products and I like this for products I want to blend but don’t necessarily want to diffuse all over my face – so it’s perfect for a bronzer or contour application.
I’d love to know what bronzers are in your rotation these days, too!
As always, thanks for reading.
