Latte Makeup Product Roundup

Today I’m talking about *cringe* the latte makeup trend.

In other words, I’m talking about my favorite products for an entirely-brown themed look. Or in other words, the kind of makeup I already wear everyday.

I’m not sure I understand the need to rename basic looks into different names. We’ve gotten donut glaze nails, siren eyes, cola lips, blueberry milk nails, and at the end of the day they’re just really basic concepts with a new shiny name.

I suppose saying latte makeup sounds a lot more glamorous than saying brown makeup, because brown makeup just doesn’t inspire a lot of excitement. In fact, you tell me you’re showing me a face of brown makeup and my mind kind of goes to this:

But moving on from the fact that the tiktok girlies know how to put a new marketing spin on existing trends and products already (which, I’ll add is a fairly impressive skill that certainly eludes me), the latte look is popular because it’s really wearable. It’s essentially a take on a sculpted 90s supermodel look with a bit of a sunkissed warm look  mixed in.

The tones are my favorite – neutral toned neutrals, leaning towards a bit warm. The shades should resemble the tones of a latte which range from a dark brown to a creamy tan.

I’ve seen a few different takes that involve shimmer but for the most part the look is slightly radiant but doesn’t have a lot of heavy shimmer or glitter. My personal preference is to add a bit of shimmery eyeshadow topper and a glowy blush to add more dimension to the look.

I’ve just done a latte makeup look on reels, but here is a roundup of my favorite products for a latte look. They’re also linked all in one place on my Shop My Shelf.

Cheeks:

  • Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter for a radiant lit from within, but not shimmery base. I use shade 4 and place it where I would place highlighter – tops of my cheekbones, forehead, and down my nose.
  • YSL Touche Eclat – yes this is a concealer but it has a luminous finish so it’s also great for a bit of brightening to lift the high parts of the face alongside contouring products. I wear shade 2.5 as a concealer under my eyes and as a brightener on my cheeks.
  • Westman Atelier Face Trace Contour Stick – Contour is key for me to getting those sculpted cheekbones. I have the shades Biscuit, which is a cooler beige, and Truffle, a warmer brown. Truffle is my preferred shade for this look for a slightly sunkissed defined look.
  • Victoria Beckham Cheeky Posh Blush Stick in Playground – This isn’t quite a coffee shade as it’s a warmer terracotta nude but the slight reddish tones really help bring some color to the cheeks to keep the look from being too monotone.
  • Merit Beauty Flush Balm in Terracotta – A light tan blush to bring a soft warmth to the cheeks, and the dewy finish also adds some dimension.
  • Phytosurgence Skin Spark Blush in Evaporate – an ideal latte look blush as it’s a muted peachy beige, and the actual shade description is “brown sugar milk tea.”
  • Westman Atelier Super Loaded Highlighter in Peau de Peche – yes I use this for everything but it’s great for a latte look as it brings just a little bit of shimmer without being obvious and the peachy bronze tone adds some interest while still staying neutral toned.

Along with these products, a neutral toned bronzer is key to this look. I recently talked about bronzers, and I think Sigma Beauty Matte Bronzer in Medium has the perfect latte shade.

Eyes:

You all know that neutral toned neutrals are my favorite type of eyeshadows but I tried to keep a tight edit of products for this roundup:

  • Make Beauty Eye Shaping Stylos – This entire line is great for latte makeup as they are essentially eye contouring eyeshadows, but the 2 shades that are most latte toned to me are Sonar, a toasted beige, and Latitude, a deep cool toned brown. I use these both as base for eyeshadow and on their own for a subtle contoured eyeshadow look.
  • Colourpop Gong Coconuts Palette – the ideal neutral toned palette that I’ve raved about many times. Every shade in here is basically a shade of latte and it’s only $14.
  • Jason Wu Beauty Desert Rose Palette – a slightly lighter and rosier toned palette, but still great for creating definition in the eye area while adding a touch of shimmer. Don’t sleep on this incredibly underrated line available at Target! I also reviewed this line when it first launched.
  • Natasha Denona Camel Palette – another great neutral palette is various tones of latte beiges with a couple shimmer shades to bring some light to the look.
  • Hourglass Scattered Light Eyeshadow in Ray –  a beautiful neutral deep champagne eyeshadow topper
  • About Face Line Artist Equestrian Eyeliner – any deep brown eyeliner would work for this, especially when it’s smoked out, but I’m loving this one at the moment

Lips:

A brown toned lip is really the key to this look, and lucky for you all, brown toned my lips have been my specialty for the past year. I really narrowed down all my lip products into the most coffee/latte themed products I could find:

Here is a latte makeup look that I recently created, along with the reel showing how I apply everything:
