Somehow a month has gone by with me barely updating this blog – I’m so sorry about that! Life has been so crazy lately, and it doesn’t look like it’ll get any less hectic soon! Thankfully, I’ll be taking a short vacation soon, and I’ll be able to have some time to get some posts going.
For today, here’s another round of empties.
I actually used up a ton of tin foil packets on a short work trip, but didn’t manage to get any pictures of it.
BODY/FRAGRANCE
The only bodycare product I used up this time was the Ahava Mineral Water Dead Sea Hand Cream. This was a really nice hand cream – really moisturizing but not too thick or heavy. I didn’t love it so much that I’d repurchase it, but I did enjoy using it.
Most likely wouldn’t repurchase.
I also used up one fragrance sample, Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue, which is kind of a cult favorite in the beauty world. I’ve never actually used it till now, and I can definitely see why it is so well loved. It’s the perfect light summer scent that is refreshing, but not too overwhelming. After using this, I’m already looking into a larger size version!
Would repurchase.
SKINCARE
Once again, I have quite a few mini skincare products — still working through that stash!
First is the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Gentle, which I kept in my gym bag for when my skin was feeling dull. I really liked that this is not as harsh as other scrubs, but I still don’t love physical exfoliators. I feel like chemical exfoliators usually do a better job.
Would not repurchase.
I also finally used up the Dr. Hauschka Facial Toner. I liked this A LOT more than I thought I would. I thought it did a really good job of soothing my skin, and while I usually dislike scented products, the bright scent helped make me feel more awake. It’s quite pricey for a spray toner, but I am seriously considering repurchasing this.
Might repurchase.
I have yet another sample of the Origins GinZing eye cream, which I love. I thought nothing could top it, but I actually decided to try out the Cerave eye cream recently, and fell in love with it…so this may actually be bumped off it’s #1 spot! That said, I’m still quite happy with this and would still buy it if I could find a good deal on it.
Might repurchase.
The Ole Henrikson Sheer Transformation Facial Creme was quite a nice cream with light AHA exfoliation, but I felt it was kind of an unnecessary step for me, since I use a dedicated AHA serum already.
Would not repurchase.
I’m so sad that I finished the Trilogy CoQ10 Booster Oil because it feels so soothing and moisturizing without being too heavy. I’m really bad at being able to tell how visible the results are for my skin, but I definitely want to pick up a full size when I can.
Would repurchase.
The sunscreen empty for this month is the Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream SPF 50. I’ve used this for years (not this particular tube, obviously), and I use it for beach/pool days when I want a heavy duty sunscreen. I never burn with this, and it’s so easy to apply. It feels just a bit heavy to wear underneath makeup, so I only use this when I’m going bare faced. After finishing this last tube and experimenting with many more sunscreens, I think I’m ready to move on from this, but it is a really nice sunscreen.
Most likely would not repurchase.
I’ve talked a bit on Instagram on how I have always been terrified of self-tanning, until I tried the Tan-Luxe Face Illuminating Drops. These were a total game changer, since I could just add a couple drops to my moisturizer, and I would actually notice a natural, but noticeable difference a couple years ago. Unfortunately, this bottle went bad, so I’m chucking it, but I’ve already ordered the body version, which also has the face version as a GWP on Ulta right now.
Already Repurchased.
Finally, after a particularly long night of work and very little sleep, I used a Patchology Flashpatch Rejuvenating Eye Gel the next morning to help soothe my very tired eyes. I reserve these for situations like that, and I LOVE that they only require 5-10 minutes of masking. It makes it easy to pop on right after a shower while I’m moisturizing the rest of my body, brushing my teeth, etc, and my eyes feel so much better after using these. Eye patches are the only “masks” that I actually enjoy, and these are my favorite.
Already repurchased.
MAKEUP
The Coola Daydream Mineral Primer was a total surprise win for me. It has SPF 30, and has a slight silicone feel, but it is very light, kind of similar to my favorite Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer. I thought it did a great job at keeping my makeup in place through the day without getting too oily. I definitely want to repurchase this at some point.
Would repurchase.
Speaking of the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer, I finished a mini of it here. It’s my favorite primer at the moment, and I hoard samples of it whenever I can, so I”ve never actually needed to buy a full size, but I will the day that I run out of samples.
Will repurchase.
I have two EOS lip balms, which I use every single morning before applying my makeup, because it makes a great lip primer. I only actually finished one, but the other one was a couple years ago and went bad. I always have a backup of this, but I guess this one just went a little too long without being used…
Already repurchased.
I had a little deluxe sample of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid in Peach that I’ve been testing. I thought it was pretty good, but I think I just generally prefer the coverage and blendability of cream correctors better than liquid concealers. I’m glad I got to try this out because the tone was good, but I just wasn’t completely happy with the way this dried down.
Would not repurchase.

The lettering has worn off the Astor Lipcolor Butter lipstick in shade 008 (I think?). Astor is a German drugstore brand, and these lip crayon lipsticks were so nice and moisturizing. I never really feature this because this was just a staple in my office drawer at work. I wish I had more shades of this because it’s truly an amazing formula with some great shades. I know what I’m looking for next time I go to Germany…
Would repurchase.
Any for my finale…an actual palette. This Sonia Kashuk Perfectly Neutral Palette is embarrassingly old, and I finished all but one shade a looong time ago, but I had a matte brown that was hanging on after all the other shades were long gone that I used to set my lower lash line. I am so happy to finally finish it. Sonia Kashuk released a new version of a neutral palette that I also have and enjoy, but sadly, she has discontinued all her makeup from the line.
Did you spot anything here that you love? What have you finished recently?
As always, thanks for reading!
I am in awe looking at the photo of the finished SK palette! *jaw drops* I thought a completely finished eyeshadow palette was a beauty urban myth! 😀
