Oof. Somehow all of August has passed by without me being able to update on here as much as I usually do. However,I absolutely could not pass up another empties post because I used up a ton of products this past month.
HAIR/BODY
Sebamed Moisturizing Body Lotion – My mother kindly bought this huge bottle of moisturizer for me from Costco and it’s taken me almost two years to finish it. It’s a very lightweight lotion that I prefer to use in the spring/summer. It was definitely light but it was still moisturizing, though I prefer something just a little thicker.
Would not repurchase.
St. Tropez Gradual Tinted Lotion – This was a deluxe sample that I was slightly terified of using, but ended up really loving. It’s pretty fool proof and because it’s a lotion and not a dedicated self-tanner, it was much easier to use. It’s pretty pricey and I’ve replaced it with the Tan-Luxe Gradual Tan lotion for now.
Might repurchase.
Bliss Body Lotion – this mini tube was actually from a hotel. I love the Bliss lotions and body butters so I used this up pretty quickly. I’m pretty cheap when it comes to lotions because I use a TON of it (I love big bulk bottles like the Sebamed one), but when I do feel like spenging a little bit more, I usually buy a Bliss body butter.
Would repurchase.
Sebastian Potion 9 – This little travel size lasted me for YEARS because I don’t usually put styling products in my hair beyond texturizing spray. Though I’m epically lazy when it comes to haircare, I did really enjoy the feel of this styling lotion. It was lightweight, gave me just a bit of extra shine and softness, and I think it did help my hair air dry with a little bit more shape. I have a few other styling lotions to go through from gift with purchases, but I would consider buying another mini size of this, since it takes me so long to go through them.
Might repurchase.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo – This is a really good dry shampoo that works well for an oily scalp. I prefer the travel size so I can throw it in my bag to refresh mid–day, and I will probably repurchase this soon.
Will repurchase.
Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast – I heard this was a good dupe for the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, which is my all time favorite texturizer, but it didn’t live up to the Oribe for me. It was volumizing, but didn’t quite give me the texture and grit that I wanted.
Would not repurchase.
SKINCARE
First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser – This is one of my favorite basic cleansers. I like to use it in the morning because it doesn’t feel drying or stripping, but it makes my face feel balanced. I have a few cleansers to go through now, but I always end up with a travel size of this at some point.
Would repurchase.
Dermablend Long Wear Makeup Remover – This had great reviews for removing full coverage foundation and heavy makeup, but it didn’t really do that great for me. It had the texture of old school Pond’s Cold Cream, but it turned into a greasy mess when I tried to wash it off.
Would not repurchase.
Clinique Take the Day Off Eye Makeup Remover – This is my favorite eye makeup remover of all time. It takes off all my waterproof mascara without any effort. I think it works better than the drugstore versions, and just as good as the more expensive Lancome Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover…but I have a couple travel sizes of the Lancome to go through for now.
Will repurchase.
Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum – This is one of the best Vitamin C serums I’ve ever tried, but I only buy the mini travel sizes because I think they go rancid more quickly than any other Vitamin C serums I’ve ever used. For some reason, I think this helps manage my oil and keep me from turning into an oily mess during the day. For this reason, I like to use this only in the summer, and then I switch to a more budget alternative for the rest of the year. I have one other mini version that I’m using now.
Already repurchased.
Tatcha Supple Moisture Rich Silk Cream – I bought this ages ago, and I think this particular cream has been long discontinued, so it’s obviously lasted me a long time. This was an amazing night cream for me. It was ultra moisturizing, and not too heavy, even in the summer. I would consider purchasing what I *think* is their new version of this – the Silk Cream.
Might repurchase.
Tony Moly Rice Mask Sheet – I have such mixed feelings on sheet masks. They always feel soothing, but I also hate the wet feeling lingering on my face. I always seem to have a couple of sheet masks around – whether they come as freebies, or I’m gifted some.
Would not repurchase.
Patchology Rejuvenating Eye Gels – these are my favorite way to refresh my eyes after a long night or a sleepless night. They’re expensive but they work quickly and effectively.
Already repurchased.
Chapstick Candy Cane – Aah, chapstick. The most basic lip treatment that you probably have all had at some point. I absolutely love the limited edition Candy Cane edition because it’s just slightly sweeter than regular peppermint. I bought two of them awhile ago and still have another one.
Might repurchase.
MAKEUP
Ya’ll. I have a lot of makeup empties this month.
MAC Prep and Prime Skin Base – I’ve used up so many of these samples, and I really do like the base. I never buy the full size because it’s usually offered as a sample when you make a MAC order, but I would if I wanted a more affordable alternative to my favorite Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer.
Would repurchase.
Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation – This is a foundation that I bought a few years ago when I had super oily skin and acne to cover. This is amazing if you need coverage, a matte finish, and an affordable price tag. I now no longer have nearly as much acne or hyperpigmentation, but I used it up by mixing it into my lighter coverage foundations like MAC Face and Body. Because of that, I have no need to repurchase this foundation even though it really is a good one.
Would not repurchase.
Vincent Longo Chiara Flush Stick – Sadly, I did not use this up, but it went bad on me. I’m pretty disappointed because I only had it for about a year and barely used it. I’ve had cream blushes last far longer than that without going bad.
Would not repurchase.
Wet N Wild Photofocus Eyeshadow Primer – This is hands down the best eyeshadow primer I’ve ever used. Conveniently, it’s also the cheapest primer I’ve ever tried. This tube lasted me for pretty much a year, so the value is just crazy good.
Already repurchased.
TheBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer – This is another all-time favorite product of mine. Its such a pigmented bronzer, but it is also the perfect tone for my skin. Because it’s so pigmented, this pan lasted me probably 3 years. I use this pretty much every season except in the winter, when I’m a lot lighter than the rest of the year. I’ve become a bit of a bronzer hoarder lately, so I”ll be holding off on buying for a bit, but I know I’ll go back to it.
Would repurchase.
It Cosmetics No-Tug Waterproof Gel Liner – This is quite a good liner. It really is waterproof and budgeproof, and this mini version lasts a pretty long time. I always have a stash of black liners but I might consider repurchasing this at some point.
Might repurchase.
Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara – Yet another favorite – I finally tried this out last year, and now I never want to be without it. It holds a curl like nothing else, yet works as a lightweight base layer for me to be able to wear regular washable mascaras on top…or on its own when I want more natural look.
Would repurchase.
Boots No. 7 Stay Perfect Mascara – I am done with tubing mascaras. I hear so many good things about them being long lasting, but also easy to take off, but they just don’t work for me. They don’t hold a curl at all so it basically looks like I’m wearing nothing at all.
Would not repurchase.
P2 Sheer Glam Lipstick in Mona Lisa Smile – Man, I loved this lipstick. P2 is a great German drugstore brand, and their lipstick formula is so moisturizing. This was a sheer pinky peach lipstick that really felt like a balm. If I could get another one of these, I would.
Would repurchase.
theBalm Meet Matte Hughes Liquid Lipstick in Committed. This is such a good MLBB liquid lipstick. TheBalm’s formulas are not drying at all, and this shade was perfection. I kind of already miss it but I really DON’T need another lipstick…
Would repurchase.
Sephora Formula X Nail Polish– I don’t even know the shade name of this polish, but it came as part of a set from a few years back. Because it’s a mini bottle, I would always take this with me on vacations, so I was able to use it up quicker than my other polishes. I miss Sephora Formula X polishes – they had a solid formula, but I am quite proud that I managed to use up a polish.
I think this might have been my biggest empties post ever. Looking back, I’m really impressed at what I was able to finish. I wish it even made a dent in how much stuff I have, because I managed to buy more (of course…) than I use this month, but hey, every little bit helps…right?
Is there anything that you finished this month?
As always, thanks for reading!
Came over from The Beauty Blackout, and am really enjoying your blog! I love seeing other people’s empties – partly out of nosiness, but also because it’s a great motivator. I don’t think that I use stuff quickly enough so it makes me happy to see an empty container and to open something brand new.
For August, I finished a 19oz jar of Josie Maran body cream, a bottle of MAC cleansing oil, and a Charlotte Tilbury eyeliner. It’s not much, but being on a low buy/no buy has meant that I’m not buying more so I hope to gain more momentum and fully use up what I have!
