September Empties 2018

Man, time is really flying by for me recently. I always plan to have my empties posts within the first week of the month, and somehow we’re well into the second week and here I am, finally getting around to the post.

I actually have fewer empties than usual for September, after a massive empties collection in August, and since I was traveling for the first part, but there are definitely a few good products.

I finished some travel sized body creams while I was traveling. First, the Ulta Sweet Grapefruit Body Lotion was a great lightweight lotion. I didn’t expect much from this, but it was actually pretty moisturizing for the summer. I probably won’t repurchase unless I was in a pinch because I just prefer drugstore moisturizers.
Might repurchase.

I also finished the Hempz Pomegranate Hydrating Body Moisturizer. Hempz lotions are super hydrating and always smell nice, but are pretty pricey for me. I always love when I can get minis for travel or score a bottle at TJ Maxx or Marshalls.
Would repurchase.

The first item is the Pacifica Purify Facial Cleansing Wipes, which I did not really love. They had a pretty cloying coconut scent, which I started getting sick of after the third or fourth wipe. They didn’t take off makeup very well, but they are definitely meant to be more of a gentle cleanser. I used these mainly for refreshing my face after a gym workout and to remove swatches.
Would not repurchase.

Through the Palm micro-influencer program, I was able to try the Patchology Hydrating Lip Gels*. I am normally not a fan of lip gels at all, but I was pleasantly surprised by these. My main problem is that they usually don’t stay on my lips at all and slide off after a few seconds without providing any moisturizing effects, but my experience with these was much better. They actually stayed on my lips, didn’t feel too slimy, and my lips felt pleasantly moisturized and plump after using them. They were a nice “revive me” treat for the mornings when I needed a quick fix. That said, they are still an “extra” for me, so I’m not sure I would repurchase.
Might repurchase.

I finished yet another mini of the Lancome Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover. I think this is a fantastic eye makeup remover, but the Clinique Take the Day Off Moisturizer does pretty much the same thing for cheaper.
Would not repurchase.

A TJ Maxx find from awhile ago was the Ole Henrikson Ultimate Lift Eye Gel. I really loved this lightweight gel to keep my eyes from getting puffy. It advises to use it mainly at night, which is what I did. It was cool and refreshing, and perfect for the summer. In the winter, I layered this over a thicker eye cream to get the hydration I needed. Since I found this for about $10 at TJ Maxx, I’m spoiled by the price and am reluctant to pay the full $34 for it, but I’d consider buying it at a discount.
Might repurchase.

I have yet another sample of the Clarins Total V Contouring Serum. I’m officially done buying this now that I have a jade roller to help with puffiness, but I still like collecting minis of this for travel.
Probably won’t repurchase.

The first of a few moisturizers I finished is the Sunday Riley Brightening Enzyme Tidal Water Cream. I really liked the texture of this, and I think I saw some extra brightness and clearness to my skin that I could safely attribute to this. The texture was thin and fairly liquidy for a moisturizer packaged in a pot, but I liked this.
Would consider repurchasing.

I also finished a tiny sample of the Sunday Riley CEO cream, which I thought was fine, but I didn’t see as many results as I did from the CEO serum.
Would not repurchase.

Another mini I finished is Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream, which I loved. My skin felt so plump and moisturized, but it didn’t feel too heavy or greasy on my oily skin. I have another mini, but I really liked this.
Would consider repurchasing.

The MD Solar Sciences Tinted Mineral Cream SPF 30 is such a nice tinted sunscreen.  It has a dewy finish so it’s best for cooler months, but I don’t think it turns greasy on me. I’ve used several minis and have always enjoyed them.
Would repurchase.

I finally finished this deluxe sample of the famous It Cosmetics CC Cream. This is a cult favorite at this point, but I don’t love it. Yes, the texture feels nice and the finish is GORGEOUS, but it turns greasy and oily on me within a couple hours. I also don’t need as much coverage as this provides.
Would not repurchase.

I didn’t finish the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Drivers Seat, or the Clinique High Impact Mascara, but they both dried out on me. I’m disappointed in the Smashbox because I didn’t have it as long as I’ve had other liquid lipsticks and it dried out quicker and it discourages me from buying more. I do really like the Clinique mascara and I always have one in my stash…I may have just had this one too long!

I finished one small spray sample of Clinique Calyx. This perfume has been around forever and I did enjoy it. It has a bright and fresh scent that felt nice for the summer, but it isn’t quite “me” enough to warrant a full size.
Will not repurchase.

A surprise hit for me was the Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy perfume. I had the original Juicy Couture scent in high school and it was definitely a high school scent, but this one feels much more sophisticated. It was sweet but also slightly musky, and it lasted a decent time. I’m not sure I would get a huge bottle of this, but I’m seriously considering a rollerball….
Might repurchase.

I guess I still finished a pretty good selection of products! What did you finish in September? See anything you love in here?

As always, thanks for reading.
