Fall is finally upon us. Even though I loved the sun this summer, I was more than happy to trade in the humid weather for some crisp fall days. The change seemed to happen overnight here. One day, I was clutching my deepest bronzers and bronze highlighters, and then the next day, the weather cooled down and I was wearing neutral lips and reaching for burgundy and red tones.
The change in seasons combined with some recent acquisitions inspired me to put together some of my favorite fall makeup and some newer things I’m excited to use in the next couple of months.
For my base, I’ve been reaching for the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer a bunch recently. It has enough hydration to keep my skin hydrated, looks like I barely put anything on, but gives the appearance of a more even and bright complexion. Another reason I tend to reach for this is because it matches my skin when my tan is starting to fade. It would be a great winter tinted moisturizer, except it’s just a touch too dark, so while the weather is cooling down and my skin is still too dark for my usual winter foundations, this is the perfect transitional base.
For face color, I recently picked up the Bare Minerals Invisible Bronze Bronzer, which I had heard great things about from Sandra at ttsandra. I bought the shade Tan, which works great as a transition sade, and it really is invisible. It looks shimmery in the pan, but it looks like such a natural bronze that isn’t really shimmery on the face at all.
My favorite blush to pair with it is the Clinique Sculptionary Cheek Contouring Palette in Defining Nudes. These are such underrated blushes, and though it swatches pretty unfantastically, it provides such a glowy nude and sculpted look. I’m a huge fan and I wish they had more shades!
As usual, I have way more eye options than anything else, because I have such a weakness for eye palettes. The Chanel Les Ombres Quad in Candeur et Experience has been such a well used quad ever since I bought it last fall, and I’m already using it a lot as the season changes. To accompany that, I’ve been wearing the heck out of Clair Obscur, which I just reviewed. It’s the perfect cool tone complement Candeur et Experience, and I’ve already raved about how beautifully they apply so I’ll just stop here and say that it will definitely get heavy use from me.
Another palette that is perfect for fall is the Charlotte Tilbury The Dolce Vita quad. The red toned brown really takes the quad to another level from just being another neutral quad. I know Charlotte Tilbury’s eyeshadows don’t work for everyone, but the shimmers really just apply and blend so easily, while seeming to blend right in with my skin.
Other honorable mentions include the Viseart Dark Mattes palette, which I’ve been loving especially for the burgundies and red tones. They also pair well with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette, which has both the warm tones neutrals and other red tones that are so well suited for fall.
And even though I tend to gravitate towards matte looks in the fall, I can never resist just a bit of shimmer and shine. I’m already a huge fan of the Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eyeshadows, and Young Adonis is just slightly more cool toned than Golden Peach, which I wore all summer. A new addition is the Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadow in Reflect, which really just adds a beautiful multidimensional glitter that is shimmery without being a glittery mess.
I could have picked a dozen lip options ranging from everyday neutrals to vampy shades, but I just chose the ones that give me the most autumnal vibes. While in the summer I tend to reach for a peachier or pinkier nude, I tend to wear more brown toned and deeper nudes in the fall. Some of my favorite options include the Bite Multistick in Almond, which also doubles as a cream blush, and Charlotte Tilbury Bond Girl, which is the ultimate fall lip with is plummy brown tones. As for reds, I switch out my coral and orange toned reds for deeper brick reds, such as MAC Chili or the Smashbox Liquid Lipstick in Out Loud. These rusty, brown toned reds just scream fall, and brings the vibes of cozy sweaters, falling leaves, and long walks. I know, how original.
What are your favorite products to transition to fall? Are you as excited for the changing seasons as I am?
As always, thanks for reading!
Always look forward to seeing what you’ve put together! Hourglass reflect and the CT Bond girl lipstick are two favorites of mine as well.
