October 2019 Empties

This season just seems to be flying by, and I’ve realized that half the month has gone by and I’m still behind on posting last month’s empties. Instead of letting everything pile up and waiting to combine last month and this month’s empties, I figured I would just post now and then wait to the end of the year for everything else.

October was a month of using up lots of things, which is good because as holiday collections start coming out, I need to make as much room as possible for the new releases I’ve been buying lately.

SKINCARE

Instytutum Transforming Melting Cleanser (gifted)- This was a pretty god first cleanser that was kind of like a thick gel that melted into an oil. It did a good job of taking off my makeup, but I had to use a washcloth for all my makeup to really “melt” off like I wanted. I enjoyed using it but I’m going to back to my favorite oil cleanser really because I’m too lazy to have washcloths around all the time.
Wouldn’t repurchase

Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser – this is a great gentle cleanser that felt really hydrating. It definitely had a nice slip to it that made it feel more gentle. I think it’s a great second cleanse, though it wasn’t so special that I’m compelled to purchase another one.
Wouldn’t repurchase.

Instytutum Transforming Eye Cream (gifted)- I really enjoyed this eye cream! It was super moisturizing without feeling too heavy. It had the texture of a thicker lotion rather than a cream, and it didn’t feel too heavy on my eyes, even in the summer. I definitely felt like my undereye area benefited from this.
Might repurchase.

Ole Henrikson Banana Bright Eye Cream – This was a really nice moisturizing eye cream that had a really slight illuminating effect. However, after using this mini up, I don’t really feel like it was so special that I need to purchase a full size.
Might repurchase

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream – This was another great product. It seems like just a basic moisturizer at first, but it has a really nice gel-cream texture that feels light but offers more moisture than it seems it would have. It’s also silicone free, which is an added plus and makes it feel like it sinks into my skin better.
Would repurchase full size.

Lumene Nordic C Arctic Berry Cocktail Brightening Hydra-Oil – I loved how this oil felt and I did notice some brightening. It’s super hydrating but the dual layers made it also seem lightweight. The only thing that really bothered me about this was that the packaging broke after a few months of using this and it had a weird pump packaging that was really hard to put back together. Would I still repurchase this again? Yes, because I do think the oil is really good, but I’d just be more careful about the packaging.
Would repurchase

Patchology All Eyes On You Eye Patches – I love the Patchology patches and this little variety pack was a great way to have all the varieties on hand.
Will repurchase

Tony Moly Aloe Masks – this was a packet of 10 masks that were meant to be used regularly. They weren’t my favorite. They had a thinner cotton that also didn’t quite fit my face right. It was good for an extra soothing step, especially during the summer when I spent too much time in the sun, but I didn’t see any lasting results from this. However, if you want a pack of inexpensive sheet masks to refresh your face, these are a good option.

Yes To Coconut Hydrate and Restore Sheet Mask  – despite being a supposedly hydrating mask, this burned my skin after a couple minutes. Pass.

MAKEUP

Becca First Light Priming Filter  – this is a beautiful illuminating primer. If you have skin that’s on the drier side, this would be great. But with my oily skin this really only works for me in the winter. I’ll be happy to have more travel sizes but I wouldn’t get a full size.
Might repurchase

Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer – This is one of my favorite primers. It’s lightweight and keeps my makeup on all day without getting oily. I’ll definitely repurchase again at some point.
Would repurchase

EOS Lip balm – I’ve used so many of these and I love them as a lip primer for my lipsticks. Honestly I’ve found primers I’ve preferred since then but I still have a few stashed away as backups so Ill use those up.
Might repurchase

Visee CC Concealer – I bought this on a whim when I was on vacation in Japan and realized I didn’t have a concealer, and I was shocked by how much I really liked it. Is it so mindblowing that you need to go out of your way to get it? No, but it’s a really good concealer if you happen to come upon it. It’s medium coverage, stays put all day, doesn’t look drying, and doesn’t crease.
Would repurchase

Heroine Make Impact Liquid Eyeliner – This was a fantastic liquid liner with a brush tip. It was waterproof and never smudged. I always love Japanese liquid liners and this one is a great option.
Would repurchase

Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara – this is definitely one of my top mascaras at this point. I’ve used a couple full sized tubes and it just lengthens and gives me drama like no other mascara ever has.
Already repurchased.

Sephora Ultra Shine Lip Gel in Pin Up Pink – This was such a nice lipgloss! It felt moisturizing and cushiony, but it wasn’t sticky or thick. Plus, the sheer pink shade was really brightening on my face.
Would repurchase

HAIR AND BODY

Dove Refresh and Care Fresh Coconut Dry Shampoo – First, I loved the sweet coconut scent of this dry shampoo. It was light and sweet without being cloying. The dry shampoo unfortunately was not my favorite. It was fine, and works in a pinch but it’s more gentle than I prefer my dry shampoos to be. It’s probably good on 2nd day hair, but some days, I feel like I need more.
Might repurchase…for the scent?

Kristen Ess Signature Conditioner – This is a wonderful basic conditioner that does everything you need it to. I have an oily scalp but I don’t dye or heat style my hair so I don’t need anything too crazy for my conditioners. I love that it’s silicone and sulphate free, too. I’m  also not very adventurous with hair products so I’d love to have this in my routine again.
Would repurchase

Kristen Ess Air Dry Creme – this was gifted to me by a friend, and I was surprised by how well it worked for me. It gave me just the right amount of texture and helped keep my (admittedly light) frizz in check. I also felt like it did a great job of moisturizing my hair.
Would repurchase

Bliss Lemon Sage Body Butter – I’ve used this body butter for years and it’s still one of my favorites, especially for the summer since it’s a lighter lotion. I also love the slightly earthy lemon scent that keeps it feeling fresh and light. Now that winter is coming, I’m using heavier moisturizers, but I will probably go back to this in the summer.
Would repurchase

And that’s it for this month! Did you see anything in here that you’ve tried?

As always, thanks for reading.
